Is there a way to tune a piano without having to hire a professional to do it?

I am not sure if I am playing some of the wrong notes or the piano is out of tune (which there is a 99% chance it is out of tune) and my mom told me I have to have someone come over and tune it. Is it possible for me to tune it by myself? How would I do that?

Any professional piano tuners out there?

I think I need help from a professional piano tuner. It now seems to me that piano tuning is much more serious thing than it used to seem. It would be very nice if somebody offered help on this subject. Thanks!
Yes, I am trying to do this myself, but not solely so. I am trying to be as careful as possible, at least now.
At home I have an electronic piano “Yamaha P-200″. Practically all instruments I tried to or did tuned were outside the place I live.
I understand that inviting a professional would be an excellent thing to do, but it is an unrealistic task for me. In previous years I used to watch a professional working. He said that I can tune myself after a little test. But I am cautious that there are some moments I don’t really know about which can be crucial to a “positive” result. That’s why I have posted my question.

Watch Dr. Flugel, (aka John Ross Wilson RPT) from Flugelbauer Piano Supply, notch a piano bridge to perfection–WARNING–don’t try this at home.

This is very generous from Mr. Wilson. He gives us permission to enter his shop.

Notice he does a first “rough” run with a powered sanding tool and finishes with a last run with the power tool but with more precision. Also at the end, he uses a wood chisel to finish by hand.

Building a piano bridge is a very delicate work. Keep in mind that Mr. Wilson is cutting out from rock solid maple wood. His cutting chisel must be perfectly sharpened.

I watched a video on youtube on how to tune a piano -One I saw was by ear and another was by using specific tools. My friend plays guitar and owns the digital sound device (?) will that same device work on my piano?

What are the actual tools called? (for tightening) And how much do they go for? – Thanks! Also is there any household products I could use to tune?

and can you tune it on your own? … I play guitar, flute and keyboard and im getting an old piano which will probably need tuning. so is it possible to do it on my own ( i have a very good ear).

I already play the piano to a pretty high level, but was really interested in learning more about the field of piano tuning etc as hopefully a holiday job…
I would assume that it is impossible to learn from another piano tuner since they would hardly want to create more competition, so an online course seemed like the most likely alternative – or maybe there is a book or better way to go about this?
